What Do I Do as a Coach and Why?

Recently, someone asked me this question. There are many ways to answer it, but I decided to talk about why I believe my job is important.

My answer to this question

What do I do?

As a coach, I help people take a more conscious approach to shaping their work so they feel more energized, motivated, and effective. I guide them in finding the right balance between being proactive and reactive—between taking initiative and responding to what comes their way. This balance is personal and influenced by factors such as individual preferences and personality, as well as by the work environment, such as work pressure, Leader-Member exchange, autonomy, …

Why do I do this?

Because I believe that job satisfaction and engagement don’t happen by chance.

A certain level of active involvement in shaping your job is essential to feeling connected and valued. This can mean adjusting the tasks you focus on, strengthening or letting go of certain relationships, and most importantly, reflecting on how you perceive your work. When people discover what works for them and take action, I see how their work becomes not only more productive but also more meaningful. Helping them through this process is exactly why I am a coach.

What is the approach?
